Durango, CO (Million Dollar Highway to Ouray) - 2026

The drive on Highway 550 from Durango to Ouray was stunning. Part of Hwy 550 is the Million Dollar Highway from Silverton to Ouray.

These pictures were taken above Ouray. There was a pullout with a waterfall to the right and water coming down from the mountains on the left under the road.


We had a pleasant sighting on our way back to Durango, 2 moose on the side of the road.

The drive from New York into Vermont was really pretty. It wasn't quite peak colors but f all was definitely settling in due to the lack of rain. We drove to Bennington stopping at Hogback Mountain viewing area and checking out the Hogback Mountain Country Store. We visited Bennington Battle Monument that commemorates the Battle of Bennington during the Revolutionary War. The monument is  306 feet 4 and 1/2 inches tall and features an observation deck with views of three states. The cornerstone was laid in 1887, and the monument completed and dedicated in 1891.       We drove past this beautiful Church, Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales, a Roman Catholic Church. We also visited Robert Frost's Stone House.  The Stone House, built in 1769, is the site where Frost wrote, among other notable poems, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” “Fire And Ice,” and the book  New Hampshire: A Poem with Notes and Grace Notes.  We had Echo s...

It's time to catch up on the blog, we have been absent for 4 months. I forgot to post some pics of the last few stays on our way to Alabama. Y'all remember the Dukes of Hazard? Well we stayed at John Schneider Studios in Holden, LA. We were told that he is on his property most of the time however we didn't see him while we were there. After Louisiana, we drove to Destin, FL and stayed at Destin Army Infantry Recreational area. We checked out the area and visited with friends Marty and Liz Crocco. From Destin, we made our way to Valdosta, GA to visit our granddaughter Thereasa. We only spent a couple nights but got to meet her dog Mazikeen.  We also got a visit a wildlife preserve. We fell in love with Fairhope Motorcoach Resort so in February we bought a lot with a beautiful outdoor living area. This will be where we come for the winter months.  The resort has a ton of activities and events like Mardi Gras, where we had a gulf cart parade, and party afterwards.  A tree in...

Acadia National Park - 2025

  I must have taken a million pictures while we were in Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor  and surrounding area. There is so much beauty, so much to see and the fall colors were stunning. It was really cool to see the water moving. I love these pictures of these 3 skeleton trees. Shoreline pictures around Acadia NP We took a drive around Southwest Harbor and saw Bass Harbor Lighthouse. We also took a really cool stroll along the coastline.  We picked a sunny, warmer day to check out Thunder hole in Acadia NP.  T hunder Hole is a popular destination year-round.
