Finger Lakes (Hector), NY - 2025
The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY was established in 1951 by Corning Glass Works as a gift to commemorating the company’s 100th anniversary. The Museum's campus is home to one of the premier glassworking schools in the world.
There are 50,000+ objects representing more than 3,500 years of history are included in the Museum's collection ranging from an ancient Egyptian pharaoh to a 200 inch telescope lens to contemporary sculpture. Here are some pictures from our visit...there were so many unique glass features on display.
We also got to see a demo of this young man making a vase.
We visited Watkins Glen and had lunch at a meat market/deli called Holy Cow. My chicken salad was very good and Ernie said his sandwich was good as well.
We saw this porsche as we were leaving the deli.
We found out we could go to Watkins Glen International (The Glen) race track for free viewing. The day we went there were Porche's, Corvettes, Mustangs and a couple other types. Watkins Glen International has a NASCAR track configuration. It is 2.45 miles and has 6-10 degrees banking on turns. In 1948 public road racing started in Watkins Glen to boost tourism. After a fatal accident in 1952 the raceway was moved to the permanent site.
