We arrived in Page, AZ on Tuesday and called the tech but he was busy and told us he would be there at 10am on Wednesday. Not surprising that the part only had a one year warranty, but we needed it so we got it ordered with overnight delivery. The part arrived Thursday afternoon however the tech was busy with another job. We had a tour scheduled for Friday morning so he said he would be Friday afternoon.
We stayed at Antelope Point Marina and RV Park. It is a beautiful park with amazing scenery on Navajo land. This was the view from the back of our site.
We checked out the Lake Powell dam. It reminded me of the Hoover Dam.
We took a boat tour from the marina into Antelope Lower Slot Canyon.
Some of the privately owned houseboats.
This picture shows how low the water is. To get down to the marina you had to get a cart ride down a path that was created to the right (cannot be seen from this view) that made me think of a roller coaster ride. On the water is the largest floating restaurant in the world.
Our tour boat into Antelope Canyon
On Friday morning we had schedule canyon tour. All tours in the canyon are done with Native American guides. We did the X Canyon tour. Our tour guide Van was the best.
Going into the canyon
Our tour guide Van
Van threw a shovel of sand into the light to get this picture.
Van even had a sense of humor, he said that the last 2 US Presidents were in the canyon
This is Joe Biden This is Donald TrumpFriday afternoon, the tech came out to install the new hydraulic motor. Long story short, he discovered that the problem isn't the motor, it is the hydraulic pump. Ernie gets on the phone and orders a new pump however, it was too late for overnight delivery. We were told it wouldn't ship until Monday so the earliest we would get it would be Tuesday. The tech wanted to get paid for his time at this point so we paid him and he left.
The next day, Saturday, we decided to see Horseshoe Bend. It was a 1.5 mile hike out and back. We were there early so there was a little bit of a shadow but the pictures turned out pretty good.
After Horseshoe Bend we drove to Navajo Bridge National Monument. Navajo Bridge was completed in 1995 and is one of only seven land crossings of the Colorado River for 750 miles. It is located between Bitter Springs and Jacob Lake, AZ. The bridge on the right is for vehicles, it is 909 feet long x 44 ft wide and 470 feet above the water. The bridge on the left is for foot traffic, it is 834 feet long x 18 feet wide and 467 feet above the water. Here is another cool fact, it was dedicated with a bucked of Colorado River water.
We saw a few condors trying to stay cool under the bridge and we got a view of the Colorado River.
On Sunday, we drove to the other side of the Lake Powel Dam to the Wahweap overlook.
I made Ernie turn around so I could get this shot of the moon shining on the water.
The rest of the story regarding our slides took and interesting turn. Ernie informs me Sunday morning that he had a funny feeling about the tech. He told me that there were some things that didn't make sense including the tech never tried the new motor, he only tested the pump. Ernie said he was going to go out and put the new motor on just to ease the feeling he had. It took him less than 15 minutes, he came in, started the coach, brought in the slides, raised the jacks, lowered the jacks and put the slides back out. It has been almost a week and although we are disappointed in this tech, it is in our rear view mirror. And, we are still in awe of all the beautiful scenery in Page, AZ and surrounding area.
