Cave City, Kentucky

May 2nd, we left Fairhope, AL, our good friends Tom and Carol are traveling with us. Our first stop was a Cracker Barrel in Prattville, AL. We had a nice dinner and planned on having breakfast however 3 buses full of kids from Birmingham came in before their State Track.

Our next stop was a lovely Harvest Host, South 40, which is a family-owned farm encompassing 40 sweeping, picturesque acres. They have hosted wedding shoots, family photo shoots, portrait sessions and have even had several music videos filmed on our property, including country star Miranda Lambert, who utilized South 40 for its amazing array of scenes and settings. The owner also told us about a commercial shoot that included Luke Bryant who was on the property at the time of the shoot.

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary while on the property. Ernie is a good sport when I asked him to wear the shirts I made for us. 😂

Tom and Carol treated us to an amazing dinner at South 55, a restaurant in Franklin, TN.

Then it was on to Cave City, KY. We were surprised to see our Jeep covered in white when we arrived at Cave Country Campground. Turns out the DEF doser was leaking and while driving down the road, the Jeep was in the path of the leak. We called a local Freightliner place in Bowling Green. We were able to get it in to get looked at. Unfortunately, that was a Friday and we had to wait for the part to come in on Monday. In the meantime, we took in Mammoth Cave. What an amazing place, and it's incredible how different some of the well known caves are from each other. The most memorable parts of the cave is definitely the history, the ducking and fitting through the narrow paths.

We also checked out the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Pretty cool checking out the cars and the sink hole.

Looking down into what is left of the sinkhole.

Cave Country Campground couldn't accommodate us an extra night so we drove to Bowling Green on Sunday and stayed in a Cabela's parking lot so we could be at Freightliner first thing Monday morning. The part came in and they were able to get the DEF leak fixed, so we hit the road heading to Georgetown, KY.
