Today we started our journey home to Arizona. This past week has gone by so fast. We are not excited about going home yet but we do have a home that needs our attention. We met some really nice people this past week and we know we will be keeping in touch!

Our drive through Iowa showed the damage from derecho that went through this past Tuesday. We saw a lot of tree damage, a silo torn apart, lots of tarps on roofs and in Springville, IA, they were obviously still out of power because the stop lights were not working. I feel bad for all the farmers because there were fields and fields of damaged corn.

This kind of freaked me out when I first got a glimpse of this truck. At a distance it looked like this truck was driving on the wrong side of the highway.

Here's a couple of other random pictures from the drive today.

These are some big tires.

Haha

Once we got to Winterset, IA and found the fairgrounds where we are staying for the night we set out to find the John Wayne Museum and his birthplace.

Being the hopeless romantics we both are we have always wanted to go see the bridge from the movie Bridges of Madison County. Madison county actually has 6 covered bridges and we saw all 6.

First stop, Cutler-Donahoe Bridge

The next was Holliwell Bridge

Then we had to drive to St. Charles, IA to see Imes Bridge

We then drove back to Winterset to see Cedar Bridge. This one we actually got to drive on because it was rebuilt last fall.

Next was a 7 mile drive to Hogback Bridge

Last was the one from the movie, Roseman Bridge.

The bridge sides had a lot of knot holes that have fallen out through the years. I tried taking pictures through the openings.
