Vermont - 2025

The drive from New York into Vermont was really pretty. It wasn't quite peak colors but f all was definitely settling in due to the lack of rain. We drove to Bennington stopping at Hogback Mountain viewing area and checking out the Hogback Mountain Country Store. We visited Bennington Battle Monument that commemorates the Battle of Bennington during the Revolutionary War. The monument is  306 feet 4 and 1/2 inches tall and features an observation deck with views of three states. The cornerstone was laid in 1887, and the monument completed and dedicated in 1891.       We drove past this beautiful Church, Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales, a Roman Catholic Church. The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY was established in 1951 by Corning Glass Works as a gift to commemorating the company’s 100th anniversary. The Museum's campus is home to one of the premier glassworking schools in the world.  There are  50,000+ objects representing more than 3,500 years of history are included in the Museum's collection ranging from an ancient Egyptian pharaoh to a 200 inch telescope lens to contemporary sculpture.  Here are some pictures from our visit...there were so many unique glass features on display. We also got to see a demo of this young man making a vase. We visited Watkins Glen and had lunch at a meat market/deli called Holy Cow. My chicken salad was very good and Ernie said his sandwich was good as well. We saw this porsche as we were leaving the deli. We found out we could go to Watkins Glen International (The Glen) race track for free viewing. The day we went there were Porche's, Corvettes, Mustangs and a couple other types. Watkin...
